Subject: Botticelli vs. da Vinci

Botticelli and Da Vinci had different subjects in their paintings. Botticelli was a humanist and studied Greek philosophy, therefore he painted scenes about Greek gods and goddesses as seen in Birth of Venus. Da Vinci rejected this humanistic view and depicted Christian scenes such as the Last Supper. Da Vinci also used a different style of painting than Botticelli. He used sfumato, where all hard lines disappear and a hazy look comes over the painting. One thing that Botticelli and Da Vinci have in common is that they both used bright colors in their works.
