For reference, changing the TBitmap to TBitmapGraphic as suggested seems to have worked.

The mechanism described in other post (creating duplicate dumbie objects) consistently failed if I changed the output filename to change through a for loop [ie. PNG.SaveToFile( 'c:\ATemp1'+IntToStr(iCounter)+'.PNG' ); ]. Michel, do you want the project and bitmaps (produced using screen dumps) for investigation?
