I agree with most of what you said but they were almost all decisions/recruits made by the former custodians of the club.

In terms of giving the next tier chances... Macrae, Dean, McInnes, and AJ have all had a crack this year. We're only 5 games in. I'm sure more will get a go if they're performing well enough and there's nobody performing better than them in the AFL team.

Will any of them be good enough to sustain an AFL career? Maybe, maybe not. But that's not the fault of the *current* regime. Unless you're refering to the following players:

- DeMattia (6 months in the AFL system)
- Allan (1.5 years in the AFL system)
- Jiath (6 months in the AFL system)
- Steene (1.5 years in the AFL system)
- Ryan (1.5 years in the AFL system)
- Richards (1.5 years in the AFL system)
- Sullivan (6 months in the AFL system, 26 year old midfielder)
- Bytel (Formerly at St Kilda, 24 year old midfielder)
- Eyre (Formerly at Essendon, 21 year old KPP)
- Parker (6 months in the AFL system)
- Harrison (2.5 years in the AFL system)

And the more regular recruits in the team/best 22: Mitchell, Hill, McStay, Markov, Frampton, Schultz

I'd argue it's way too early to make a call on most of those players. And too early to expect them to come into the AFL side and perform well.

I agree, we don't appear to have much of a next tier at the moment. But it's not a reflection of the current direction and long term term planning by the club.

If we still don't have gun players emerging over the next 5 years, then yeah, the people in charge now stuffed up.
