I agree -- Treloar's decision wasn't great.

But he wasn't alone.

Jack Crisp took a nice intercepting mark on the wing late in the game. Instead of driving us into attack, he kicked fifty metres backward to Tom Langdon.

Or there was Travis Varcoe's tackle on Jeremy McGovern early in the last quarter on half forward. McGovern blatantly dropped the ball. Nothing.

We could cite these endlessly -- both ways. I'm sure the Eagles have a litany of complaints.

The reality is we just weren't good enough for long enough.

I thought Nathan Buckley spoke brilliantly at the Copeland. Instead of making excuses in the typical Collingwood way, he talked about losing their "dare" and getting better.

Once we established that five-goal lead, the game reminded me of the second half in the drawn 2010 grand final.

It was like we realized we were in a winning position, and went safe, trying to protect the margin rather than play the game that got us there and expand on it.

Citing individual instances is pointless because it abrogates the whole from taking responsibility.
