You bother with me because I won't cop your inane prattle without response - which then forces you to attempt to recover by responding, generally with name-calling rather than addressing my comments.

You should seriously hope that I never decide to take-on some of your typically inane posts at oneeyedeagle.

(1) I have only ever put forward MY opinion as to why I favoured SL - I have NEVER posted anything purporting it to be Canterbury's position. Still, don't let the facts get in your way, Col.

(2) Canterbury were not an impoverished Club pre-SL. You may recall that they (along with Parra... possibly) were the most successful Club of the '80's on-field. Had you taken time to look, you would also have noted that their League Club has been a financially successful business since the mid-'70's and has underpinned the Football Club over the years (League Club and Football Club are mutually inclusive in monetary terms, be it St.George, Penrith, Easts or Canterbury).

Still, don't let the facts bother you.

(3) The pre-SL administration were bent on a willy-nilly expansionist strategy that burned millions by placing teams in Adelaide, Perth etc and managed to completely overlook Melbourne. Can we credit Arko with this? The Melbourne Metro area had a NSW/QLD expat population circa 70K and growing in 1989. How many times have we seen a business fail by attempting to grow too quickly AND with a mis-begotten 'strategy'?

The demise of the Clubs to which you refer resulted from a chain of events set in motion by the ARL.

(4) Never have I criticised you, or anyone, for being a fan of other sports / codes. However,with apologies to Shakespeare; you come to bury RL, not to praise it. And you do it consistently. It's not that I feel the Code should be considered a sacred cow or above criticism - but the destructive sniping you constantly spew forth is another matter.
