I think we disagree. And if you're fine agreeing to disagree..., then I think we'll get along just fine.

My supposition is that BWC schools needs loyal support. To me, loyalty exhibits itself with continued attendance and financial support (donations) regardless of short term sub-par performance on the court or field. I think paramount to achieving a loyal support base is increasing/strengthening alumni relations.

Yes, you know the ins and outs of IV. I do not. But I think my view remains true. That regardless of the semi-captive audience in IV, STUDENT attendance & financial support wains substantially with performance on the court or field. I think that is true at 98% percent of the college campus's with respect to student attendance. Heck, do students even donate to an athletic program? Probably not.

I think UCSB has A LOT of potential to generate community wide and alumni support. By support, I mean financial donations to the affect to build/rebuild facilties. But, I don't think it will come from IV. Students have high hopes and desires..., but not the cash. They also relocate out of the area in 4-6 years time.

Long term loyalty comes from people that have committed themselves to an area for several years. They have very little inclination to pick up and move. Call them established if you will..., but not students. They are from teh community (I'd argue SB) and the are alumni (also in SB).
