Subject: show us your roots

with many plants the roots may be uncovered to some extent, with no harm, for astetic reasons.
im pleased with this dracena marginata.
though the effect may be more obvious seen as a whole,i`ve shown this in close up to show detail.

Cool Denny! Very Bonsai-ish. I have a photo I liked so much that I framed it and it hangs in my kitchen. It is of a small child nestled amongst the roots of a massive tree, she is dwarfed to the extent that the photo is surreal and fairy tale like. It's one of those rare photos that completely impacts your visual sensabilities....I guess you could say it is quite symbolic.

very, very cool. A lot of gesneriads grow from rhizomes and look really cool with part of the rhizome showing (some prefer to grow that way with a nasty risk of rot if it's totally covered with soil). It's interesting to see the difference in appearance of those structures. Some are rather scaly, some are smooth, some look like they have bark...
There is an art to houseplanting! And this is part of it. :)

I've a dracena that's developing exposed roots and a parlor palm that has stilt roots (I didn't make that up, someone else called them that!) and they do look really cool. I might top the dracena soon so I have more in the pot. Maybe, maybe not.

sorry maggie,im working on it.
iris,i suggest you do top,but only when it feels right.
im afraid ive become top happy, the one in the pic has been topped at least 4 times.
im really getting into miniturizing, and containing at size, most my plants.i couldnt possably fit it 15 inch pots.
area 51 would overload, and the anti-matter explotion would be seen at jupiter and mars.
