Subject: Mole

I few months ago I noticed that my flyer was loosing a bit of fur from the middle of his tail along the bone. The skin wasn't irritated, so I didn't really think that it was a big deal, maybe just some over grooming. I did notice that there was a small pink lump there and just assumed it was a mole. Now, however, that pink lump has turned dark. There is still no hair on part of the tail, but the loss hasn't ever worsened. Any idea if squirrels have moles like humans and is this something I should have looked at/removed?? Thanks.
