She was back again, repeating the same never-ending cycle. Homecoming was part of the process. She’d run away, realize that she shouldn’t have left in the first place, and return. After the damage had already been causes. Which is why Charity didn’t know if her stay would be permanent, or just temporary. Now where was Fox? She wondered, glancing around at the familiar territory. The herd, the waterfall, etc. This was her home, and this was her family. But she wasn’t content here, at least she hadn’t been. She didn’t know if she ever would be. Maybe if she had something to keep her here. Fox. Charity had a way of messing with his head, and she knew it. She needed to find him, and apologize. However, apologizing might not be the answer. Besides, it wasn’t her fault. Yes, she had run away. But she had had her reasons for doing it. Reasons that Charity preferred not to enclose. It hadn’t been intentional. Despite what he might think, she would never intend to hurt him. In fact, she would do everything in her power not to. Not to see Fox get hurt, whether the pain was inflicted by her hand or someone else’s. Things, life in particular, were complicated. So very complicated. In fact, it wasn’t since she had come back to Cascade Mountains that life had gotten complicated. It used to be simple before. Simple and easy. What happened? She grew up, she supposed. That’s what happens when you make the transgression from childhood to adulthood. We all must make it. And somewhere along the way, we all loose our innocence. Charity had lost hers. “Fox,” her voice seemed hollow to her ears. A single voice in a crowd of a dozen. She was one horse, one heart. One soul. It seemed unrealistic that she could matter enough to him to amount to much. She was just one horse. One single, solitary horse.
