I got bitten on I680 the week before Christmas 2001.
I had just replace the torque tube (all), dropped in a rebuilt 5-speed w/ %40LSD, replaced the 8 main front suspension bolts for the lower control arms, many others items that my mind has forgotten :-(

Somebody at 11:17am midweek decided to glide from the Sunol/Castlewood on ramp to the far left lane where I was.
It could not have been more than 75-100 ft from the left side converging white lines of the on ramp from when the nose was knocked. The dude in the the white galiant, did not even stop to see if I was alive.

I got through the first fish-tail, resulting from the increasing right curve, with the rear-end power sliding down the breakdown lane. The LSD got me on the transition between asphalt and concrete. The smooth concrete let go as the rear slid out into the second lane and thank GOD nobody was there! Then the Hoosiers grabbed hard! Third gear @5000 resulted in a monster launch, impacting the jersey barrier, almost flipping over. We slid down the retaining wall nose on, and hoping with the wheels locked to the right the new brakes would hold, and they did. Otherwise what remained of the nose would have spun out into the now oncoming traffic for me. I ended up with only a single bruise on the left collar bone from the seat belt.

I lost my dream that day, she was more than just an old 81 928 5-speed machine of joy! She was something you strapped on and wore with pride!
