Subject: To be a Grand parent.

Well the time is approaching for our little 'tadpole' to become a 'froggy'. My daugter's due date is Feb 16th. she has been having tons of trouble picking out a name, so I nicknamed my grandson, yes it is a boy, Tadpole. Cute huh?
Seemed appropiate since he was swimming around in liquid in her belly all these months. But once he makes his appearence, I will have to change that name I reckon. Wonder if Froggy will do? I plan on making him just like one of the little rascals anyway. :)

Speaking of due dates, she went to the doctor wed. and after an ultrasound, the doctors made a decision that I am not so sure I can live with. They measured the baby by the pictures and computer wizardry and came up with a weight of 5 pounds and 3 oz. They told my daughter that if he don't gain a pound by next week, they will induce labor, taking the baby two weeks early. Now I ask you, what kind of deal is that? What happened to the old days when the baby 'cooked' until it was done and then 'popped' out. (I use those terms lightly). I plan on going with her next Thursday and just finding out what is going on. Something about the umbilical cord being too small and the placenta not doing its job properly was all I could gather.

Some of you don't know what we have been through during this last eight months. She found out she was prego, then seperated from her husband, moved back home, he filed for a divorce, it was final in Oct. Now he is over here every single nite and it is driving me crazy....

I lost my home office, we turned it back into a bedroom/nursery for her. I got her a job with the company I work with for, the last two months. She hadn't worked over 40 hours prior to that all last year. Now she is on sick leave until after the child is born and may not have a job when she is ready to go back, due to the 90 day probationary period... The 'father' and I use that term very LOOSELY, is working FOR a CHANGE, so he best help out with diapers.

Since you now know some of the background, I will tell why I am concerned for the baby. While seperated from her husband, before the divorce was final, HIS girlfriend attacked my daughter in her fifth month of pregancy. She was sent by ambulance to a neonatal labor room, she almost lost the baby. The girl was kicking her in the belly and screaming that she hoped both Jen and baby died. Jen has been having contractions peroidacially since then. There may be something major going on, but the doctors haven't told us anything is terribly wrong. There might have been damage done to the placenta during the attack, and that is why the baby isn't getting all the nourishment he needs....??? I don't know, they aren't saying. I intend on finding out next thursday at her appointment.

Please remember our family in your prayers and especially this unborn child! Pray for a healthy baby, please.
Thanks in advance.

Mary, soon to be a grandma, LadyMarlin
