Subject: https://tvline.com/2019/05/19/ncis-los-angeles-recap-season-10-finale-jag-reunion-harm-mac/ I hang on to what Heddy says to Mac. Also, the looks between H/M are still there and very obvious, so I choose towait and see how the first episodes go in September, rather than get all hot under the collar. I'm still a loyal shipper that's for sure, a real romantic...big sigh.

[> [> All that said, about where I expect this to go. Why can't Gemmill be consistent with where the series ended. Mac could've gone to San Diego, as this episode suggests, but why couldn't Harm then take the politcal route and be the liaison to the Sec. of State? Or, Harm could've gone to Europe, and Mac could've eventually taken the job she currently has as a liaison on this show? Whatever happened to Harm needing to "grow-up"? Wasn't that the point of the whole Pauraguay & Mattie story line? And whatever happened to Mattie? (inside) -- doc, 12:22:43 05/20/19 Mon

We can argue whether that rot of story lines from Paraguay to Mattie were ever necessary, but that is the way TPTB went. So now they are both in their 50's, in no relationship, have no children & are all about their careers? Ridiculous! They have wasted the better part of 33 years (9 in JAG and 14 years since) and still can't decide what they want or make a long term commitment?

Supposedly seasons 9 & 10 were about Harm deciding what he wanted, going after it & growing up. No more Peter Pan. We can argue whether that was ever necessary, but that is the way TPTB wrote the story line. We ended up with Mattie; a story line I hated! And in the finale Harm takes responsibility for her again. What did he do with her? She was paralyzed & significantly disabled. Did he dump her on Mac to go "back to the sea"? Did he send her back to her father? Placed her in a home???? None of that would be in character with the real Harm. Yet, here he is being Peter Pan again & riding the sea.

What happened to the law? After he came back to JAG from flying the 2nd time, he said his heart was in the law. His flying career was over. Now he's the opposite again? He has to be in his 50's now, isn't there a mandatory retirement age for military pilots, especially fighter pilots? And yes, he looks his age! By the end of JAG he had his 20 years, Mac didn't, so Mac staying in would've made sense from that standpoint. I can't see our real Harm, abandoning Mac to go back to the sea. How long was he out? Isn't that a major career hit, hence his lack of advancement? What can he expect to get out of this prolonged career, after going backwards? I don't expect he'd ever make admiral in "real life," as he has to have "timed out" in rank at this point, thus no further advancement. Officers time out after 10myears in rank, right? Where's janlaw when we need her.

What happened to his promise to Mac "to always be there"? Harm wouldn't have done any of this. I suspect the whole "back to sea" was something Gemmill needed for his NCIS LA story line, so who cares if it is counterintuitive to the Harm we know & love? Who cares if he (Gemmill) destroyed Harm's character, commitment & deeper purpose we JAG fans have come to know and love as inherently Harm.

As for Mac, going to San Diego makes sense from the standpoint of finishing our her career (20 years), but how is it she never got promoted? She had a few more months in rank than Harm, when he got promoted in the finale, and San Diego was supposed to be a career-making promotion. Could they not have children? Did they try? Did they just toss that dream aside, because Harm got his Peter Pan personality back. The same goes for tossing Mattie aside? Not Harm at all!

How long did Harm give their relationship a try, before up & shipping off? Based on the timeline (14 years - 9 yeas of not seeing each other), they had as much as 5 years to make a go of things. Apparently they never even tried getting married. Why? Because the commitment was too permanent? That's not where they were at the end of JAG!

As I noted above, I think this is just a stunt for rating. I'm sure they will be together again by the end of the 2 episode arc at the beginning of the season. One or the other of them will go missing, and the other will be the hero to the rescue. Harm will either quit his flying career after being shot down AGAIN, or to rescue Mac. I'm guessing the first will happen, & Mac will have to find him with her "special connection." I suspect the first, but been there, done that, and I don't really care to see it done again.

And honestly, they are in their 50's now! Grow up!!!!! They've missed out on so much of what they could've been, based on the NCIS LA scenario. In my mind, none of this happened. H&M are off living together, married, happily ever after, with 3 kids, and a private law firm somewhere helping the vulnerable & innocent. They are living the life I wrote about in my story, "A Nickel Trumps a Dime Fate," and I'm sticking with that thought!!!

[> [> [> "reel" life - -- janlaw, 21:26:06 05/20/19 Mon

Doc, you asked about REAL life - this is entertainment so Harm's been on active duty the last 14 years and we don't know when Mac retired and took the State Dept civilian job. In the Navy, for an 0-6, 30 years is the max. SO, Harm would have retired in 2015, when depends on whether AJ finessed his time with the CIA and crop dusting. If an 0-6 is promoted to Flag, more years .... We were never told exactly when Mac was commissioned - I think no later than 1989 (at the latest), so she could have retired around 2009, at 20 years.

It's wonderful to see all the old friends commenting, even though I'm terribly disappointed at what we have to comment on. SIGH.
