Subject: John Rowbotham, Yeoman, Mottram, Will of1734

I have just transcribed the will of John Rowbotham of Mottram, Cheshire made the 16th Sept 1734. It makes reference to his loving wife Jane and 2 children under the age of 21 years, John and Sarah. The will refers to land he owns in Oldham, lancashire and 'that cottage house where James Hoult lives'.The will requires his son John to pay his sister £90 pounds when he inherits the lands.
The will also has an 'inventory of the goods and chattols of John Rowbotham'. Anyone who has an interest in this family and would like a copy of the transcript please contact me at the web page email address.
Does anyone else have any old Rowbotham wills that can be shared around?

There is also a Will for John Rowbotham who died in 1763 and who I believe is John's son (although John snr seems to have been 95 when he died according to the gravestone). Jane remarried George Shaw in 1738 and died 1748. George Shaws Will1758 also includes a pew in Mottram church which he left to John Rowbotham the younger (presumably originally belonged to John snr and passed to Jane and then George). There is also a Will for Thomas Broadbent 1784 which included bequests to his granchildren -- the children of his daughter Alice (wife of Francis Hill) by her marriage to John Rowbotham (jnr)
