Subject: I know of 3 dancers that had surgery 2 hip/1 back as teens.
In reply to: Worried 's message, "Anyone have any info/stats on injuries or issues later in life due to ID?" on 22:26:20 03/28/24 Thu

My oldest quit at 13 when she developed bursitis in her hip. She decided it wasn't worth the pain. My youngest danced until 19 and at 23 still has chronic knee pain if she doesn't keep up with the pt exercises. The 3 I know of personally that had surgery all were worlds recallers. This "sport" damages kids bodies. It needs to be scaled back, shoes need updating, and TC's need more training. With all the carrying on about protecting girls/kids this should be the focus. And teams need more love. That's a great way to carry on the tradition with authentic steps that don't destroy joints.
