Subject: Problem is this idea pushes the ‘adult’ to the side
In reply to: Standard would already be high 's message, "Excellent points. And we can’t forget that many of the senior ladies who are already recalling and medalling at worlds are old enough to be in these expanded age groups." on 14:09:57 07/03/24 Wed

I’m no fan of the adult category however the reason adult masters/advanced adult has come about is the adults who started to dance as adults did not want to compete against those with previous experience. Some of these adults are pretty demanding in their thoughts of growing their opportunities to compete. They do trad set and likely don’t want to do modern set. They are not at a standard to compete against senior ladies and so if you just go by age they are being pushed out. They never worked their way through prelim and open and been given the chance to go to O and Nans without qualification. It’s hard to walk that back and cast them aside. Maybe add age groups to senior ladies but leave the adults. Nix the advanced adult… either they dance senior ladies or if they have been out 5 years they can be adult category . To me adult at O and Nans looks like a money grab to help pay for the event with adult dancers more than happy to pay.
