In reply to: Give it up 's message, "To “here’s a question” -some dancers have recently WQ’d and now are in AA with much less experienced dancers? Why go to AA?? To place or win? Doesn’t seem right? Why not over 25 OC group, leave the Adult comps to those that haven’t danced in 5+ years and/or truly “adult” dancers. Just seems sad and another way to get money." on 21:20:35 07/05/24 Fri

The recent WQ dancers you’re referring to are in their 30s and likely can’t dedicate the amount of time it takes to continue to compete at the level senior ladies requires from top dancers. You never know what is going on in someone’s life and I think it’s great that there is another option for adults who love dancing but would rather not be compared to 22+ dancers (or continue the all consuming process of training for worlds annually) to participate in. According to the syllabus and CLRG rules, it was completely 100% allowed got them to compete in the advanced adult category. The problems being aired are with the organization and distinction of the age groups- not with any one or two individual dancers. Another way to look at it is that it is a positive thing to have competitively successful dancers opt to compete in Advanced Adults. Adults want to be taken seriously and increasing the standard of any group is something that should be welcomed. Oh and for those of you saying move on- did you know that you have to dance a full treble jig, full hornpipe, and multiple full contemporary set dances to pass the upper grades and TC exams? Might make sense for some depending on their goals.
