Subject: Periods can be debilitating for some. My dancer almost missed a round because she bled through her kickpants. we've tried period underwear and that helped on light days.
In reply to: Concerned DM 's message, "How do dancers cope with competing when they have periods? Just heard a very successful school have their top female champions taking medications to stop periods completely. Is this an extreme measure or is it necessary to succeed and be at the top?" on 05:34:36 07/30/24 Tue

I have seen some dancers that have to scratch at Feis and majors due to cramps and other complications. (headaches, nausea, etc.) Remember that a lot of these girls are young and don't have a lot of experience with how to manage period pain or too young to go on birth control. They are still figuring things out.

  • Research indicates that fewer menstrual cycles lower the risk of breast, ovarian, and uterine cancers, making period suppression a healthier option than continuous menstruation. -- References enclosed., 10:02:55 08/08/24 Thu
