In reply to: J 's message, "World Qualification Question" on 09:36:10 12/10/25 Wed

A few problems exist.
1. We don’t go regional to national to world like it should. Kids should have to qualify for nationals at Oireachtas. Then they should qualify at nationals for worlds. Then you would have a true list of dancers deserving of the high level
Of competition.
2. Small regions send 5 dancers to worlds but sometimes 3-4 are not WQ worthy compared to dancers in large regions with 180 dancers in a comp. Someone lands just out of WQ in a huge comp is often a better dancers than some regions 3,4,5th place dancers. This is an issue.
Also nationals should be region specific to earn those spots and qualifications.
Stop making it about the money. The more dancers the more profitable. I don’t buy that BS. Not every OC dancers needs to be at nationals. Trad sets don’t need to be at nationals. We don’t need 6 stages at nationals. A smaller well run event with top dancers is what we need.

So if we had a sequence that made sense, Oireachtas to nationals to worlds and you actually have to earn each qualification then it would be better.

Kids should not all get a trophy. They should earn it. It’s a big deal. But being in the stands at worlds and watching some dancers I shake my head. How did they get here? Coming from the largest region is mind blowing to see kids in the world stage that would not even recall at our Oireachtas. I’m not joking here.
