All of the UBF leaders outwardly praised Lee's lengthy, impromtu closing announcements at the 2001 ISU Summer Bible Conference. My chapter director said that Lee gave long impromtu announcements because Lee was 'full of spirit' and wanted to encourage the missionaries. I found his long announcements to be burdensome to sit through. After listening to a long message, Lee would talk for another thirty minutes. I barely could understand him and therefore, did not pay attention to what Lee was saying. I do not remember hearing Lee say "write a testimony or I will kill you!" because I was either sleeping or daydreaming of when the meeting would end.
