that's just rubbish, sorry. ok, i only can speak for my own chapter, but such things NEVER happened here.

Elia, I wrote the quotation to which you responded. I was in UBF for nearly eight years. My experience was that UBF leaders will use every opportunity to manipulate sheep to commit to UBF and to obey them absolutely. The source of manipulation is different for each sheep.

*When UBF leaders observe that a sheep enjoys playing musical instruments or singing, they will use the singsperation to manipulate the sheep into attending UBF activities and/or obeying UBF leaders in other areas. Singsperation will not be used to manipulate all sheep or even all of the sheep asked to participate in singsperation.

*If the sheep likes to speak in front of others, testimony sharing will be used to manipulate sheep. I enjoy speaking in front of others. Thus, I was told that my testimony had to fit their mold to be able to share.

*If the sheep wants to become a missionary, taking world mission journeys and the prospect of becoming a missionary will be used to manipulate sheep.

*If the sheep wants to get married, marriage by faith will be used to manipulate sheep. My chapter director asked other directors if anyone in their UBF could marry a new Korean nurse sheep because the sheep is desperate to get married.

*If the sheep wants to get baptized, baptism will be used to manipulate sheep. In Andrew S.'s testimony, his director would not baptize Andrew unless he broke up with his girlfriend. Even after that, the chapter director told Andrew to wait. The chapter director wanted Andrew to be even more obedient until he could receive baptism.

The manipulation likely does not happen right away because of the initial love-bombing. Eventually, the sheep will be called into the director's office or be asked to meet with their shepherd where the sheep will be told about all of his weaknesses, failures, and transgressions. Andrew's account of Word Hard calling him into his office to rebuke him after Andrew had spent many hours during exam week helping with the Christmas worship service is an excellant example.

Remember that each chapter director will manipulate sheep differently because of his absolute authority within his chapter. Based on the testimonies and posts by former UBF members, the manipulation and abuse will not be exactly the same in each chapter, but there will be manipulation and abuse. One chapter has a 2nd gen piano player that attends another church and often misses SWS and conferences. The chapter director still allows her to perform because she is a good pianist. Further, the threat of not playing the piano would not work on this 2nd gen. Colonge UBF may use slightly different methods of manipulation and abuse than other chapters.
