Jesus People - United States of America (JPUSA) was revealed as a cult by exmembers in Ron Enroth's Recovering From Churches That Abuse. Jon Trott, JPUSA member and Cornerstone Magazine write defend JPUSA in his article: Is Abuse About Truth or Story? Or Both? The article can be read here:

Ex JPUSA members have started a website: www.apologeticsindex.org/cpoint11-1b.html.
There is a link to an open letter which chroncles similar abuses as UBF.
JPUSA is similar to UBF regarding authoritarianism, no financial accountability, unhealthy dependency upon leaders, and unwillingness to listen to complaints of members.
Even worse, JPUSA started Cornerstone Magazine, a Christian magazine in which abusive church and cult activity are frequently exposed. JPUSA conveniently covers its cult activity by publishing anti-cult literature that is well-respected among anti-cuult researchers. (Even Wellspring was unwilling to believe that JPUSA was abusive until a former member come to them. This can be read at http://www.rickross.com/reference/jesuspeople/jesuspeople4html. This is similar to the Scientology cult owning the Cult Awareness Network (CAN).
Cults have a new defense strategy: Expose Other Cults
They assume that no one will suspect that a cultwatch is actually a cult.
As UBF's abusive cult practices are coming to light, they may invest their millions in anti-cult activity. Because UBF has such great love for college, perhaps UBF can start a newsletter exposing cult on college campuses.
