The crucial point is here that Jesus was God, He was without sin and in every regard perfect.

So it should be clear that we may not imitate Jesus in EVERY regard as UBF is claiming we should. For instance, we may not claim that we are without sin and refuse being held accountable. We may not demand absolute obedience. Etc.

UBF also implies that we should imitate the way how Jesus raised His disciples. However, they ignore that Jesus mission was a one-time mission in a very short time. It was a singular event, and he did many things that were not intended to be the "standard" for a church. He was NOT the role model of a church leader, because He had heigher authority. He said expressively we should NOT imitate his role as teacher and master, only HE deserved that role.

And if you read the book of acts, you won't see that the Apostles each tried to gather 12 other Apostles around them and make them their disciples etc. Read also 1Cor3 where Paul discourages such behavior.

UBF and many others misunderstand Jesus' great commission as the initial point of a giant pyramid multilevel marketing scheme with Jesus at the top. Yes, Jesus should be at the top, but there should be no pyramid of men below him; but all belieers should be like brothers. These were his very words. UBF blurred this distinction between Jesus and men, and disobeyed Jesus' expressed wish to not build such hierarchies. They reinitiated the OT system of mediators. In UBF, the shepherds and leaders have the role of mediators. But the Bible says there is only one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.
