This is an interesting testimony. The author has done a very brave job in revealing his own inner feelings for us to read.
This is never an easy thing to do. It was couragous because the writer risked appearing stupid in the eyes of the readers. Having done this, he has rightly been commended. Was it indoctrination or brainwashing, I dont know if these things are acceptable scientific concepts.
However, this shows the dangers of putting people in authority who have neither the right nor the qualifications to be there. All to often the leader is the one with the dominant charecter. This is one of the dangers of belonging to small groups. In my experience, when someone refuses to answer a reasonable question, the explanation usually is they lack the ability to think of an answer.
Dear friend, in your heart of hearts you know that you are right, what I think has happened is that your faithin your sense of judgement has suffered because of your involvement in that group. Just remember nothing is stupid if you can learn lessons from it, ther is no need for guilt in this case.
