To quote from a major UBF figurehead's report from this conference that you mentioned:

[some college-age 2ndgen] wrote his own message on Jn 3. His message was like a formal technical explanation. So I asked Pastor Ron to help train him. Pastor Ron asked him to memorize the passage and recite it 100 times. In this way, [some college-age 2ndgen], who is usually very self-confident, began to humbly struggle before God’s word. So his image became “light and joyful” instead of “heavy and serious.”

This sounds to my trained ears like the usual spiritual abuse disguised as "message training" and "help" that I and others experienced, spiritual abuse that is designed to crush someone's individual expression. This seems to contradict your report that the "major ubf figure heads" who were present at this conference "did not attempt to force a ubf style of worship or structure of meetings."

How long do you figure it will take for the 2ndgens to get out of the shadow and influence of these major UBF figureheads? And by the time that they do get out of their shadow, how do you know that these 2ndgens will not have adopted the same spiritual abuse techniques that were used on them (if they have not already begun to use the same abusive techniques on their own "sheep")?
