There is no single authoritarian figure that has the influence or initiative to command what many have in the past claimed to be questionable. I personally believe Missionary Sarah Barry and Pastor Ron (I'm sorry if you do not agree with me using these titles) have taken a more passive role than did Dr. Samuel Lee.

Your are right, it is not a single authoritarian figure, but a couple of people who have all been drenched in the spirit of Samuel Lee. Let me also remind you that the last reformers have been expelled from UBF after Samuel Lee had died, under the leadership of Sarah Barry. That was not very passive. But I agree, you can compare the situation with the situation of the Soviet Union after the death of Mr. Stalin. Yes, a lot of things changed and improved after his death. But they did not get down to the core of the problem. The wrong doctrines and practices and corruption remained in the Soviet Union.

UBF traditions removed, changed or altered

How goes this along with the proclaimed motto to "keep the spiritual heritage of Samuel Lee"? Did UBF abandon that motto?

No intervention by elders and figure heads.

I would also like to point out that often you don't see these interventions. Nonny Moose has given you an example of interventions of how they give message training to the messangers at the "young disciples conference." It looks as if it was natural, but it was pretty much orchestrated, rehearsed and controlled by the "figureheads" behind. They are good in giving you the impression that you are free, but they still control you.

Concerning arranged marriages: Even I was not aware how much my own marriage was arranged. Her leader had told to my wife that I had interest in her, and my leader had told me that my wife had expressed interest in me. As we later found out, both claims had not been true at all, they were lies. We had never expressed such intentions, and we would not have even dreamed of doing so, since as indoctrinated UBFins we believed it was not "spiritual" to make any step on your own. We believed in a "marriage by faith" God would chose the marriage partner through the leader. We had been raised up and educated that way in UBF.

With other words, the leaders sometimes try to make it look less arranged, but behind the scenes, nearly everything is arranged and orchestrated.
