About generalization, yes, nothing should be swept under the rug by declaring it "only a minute detail".

Please, for all you current UBF members out there:
we neither deny that people have met Jesus Christ through UBF, we do not deny that there are genuine born-again seeking Christians in UBF, we don't even deny that YOU have gotten spiritual growth out of your time in UBF.

But you also, please do not deny that people HAVE been abused spiritually, physically and even sexually through UBF leaders. Please also do not deny that UBF leaders frown upon such things as being held accountable for their actions or even publically declaring wrong.
Please also do not deny that it is a proven fact that the 1:1 "Shepherding/Discipling" principle was tried in the past by various ministries and was considered more harmful than useful.
Please also do not deny that Samuel Lee had very little to give in terms of interpreting the Bible, he preferred totally worldly sources like Hitler or Ho Chi Minh towards sources like Madame Guyon or Martin Luther. Also, don't deny that he couldn't even get history straigt (no, Luther was not a layman!).
Please also do not deny that certain upper echolon UBF leaders share in a vast wealth of worldly possessions.

If so, then we can have some common ground.
There's no "None of this happened" on either side. No one can claim that nothing good happened in UBF. And no one can claim that nothing bad happened in UBF.
Then, we can start to discuss the "now, what about it?"

In Christ,
Mike K.
