Yes, that is an important point, Mike. Jesus adhered to his own teachings that it is best to pray alone where nobody sees you. Instead, the UBF morning prayer is a measure to show your faithfulness and make yourself proud. Our chapter leader also forced us to share sogams at the prayer meeting. Every day, another person had to prepare a sogam. Then, we had to pray in groups. And only then we were allowed to have "personal" daily bread time, where we could read a passage from the Bible and interpret it in the light of the UBF daily bread booklet. The prayer topic and the teaching of that passage was pregiven in that booklet. The loyal UBF members would pray for Samuel Lee, for 120 members, for 12 disciples and for the prayer topic from the booklet. That was the personal prayer time.

Just that UBF loyalists do not understand me wrong: Early prayer hour may be good. Sometimes it is even good to pray with others. But UBF makes this to a rule. There are also people who have problems waking up early in the morning and would be tired the whole day. This is not a matter of the strength of your will, but of personal disposition. Some people need more sleep, some less, some are early birds, some night owls. Everybody has to find out what is best for him. But UBF tries to fit everybody in the same mold.
