The inspections started a few days before school started and your parent had to call and make an appointment for the inspection. the exams were done in the school gymnasium . There were two exam rooms, made by using the folding curtains you see in hospitals. There appeared to be just one doctor and she was the same one each year. She moved from one examining area to the other and did the exams. It was the same from the first grade through high school. They were used instead of regular nurses for the students from first through eighth grade. That changed after the first couple of years because the boys mostly in the eighth grade were uncomfortable being nude in front of girls who they not only knew but were only three or four years older. They discontinued using these student nurses on the seventh and eighth grade boys. The exam was basically the same every year. You went into the exam room and was told to remove all of your clothes and then you were measured for height and weighed, your temp was taken and your blood pressure was taken twice. All this information was relayed from the nurse to the teacher who wrote it down on a form of some sort. Then you had a seat on the examining table and the doctor came in and did her inspection. It was fairly quick but very precise. It included every thing including a full genital inspection. This was watched closely by the nurse and the teacher. All of the teachers were female and it didn't make much of a difference in the lower grades but from the fifth or sixth grades it was kind of embarrassing to have to stand there with nothing on and have the three females looking at you from top to bottom.(no pun intended) Some of us were entering puberty and we were afraid of an erection, which was pretty common among most of us. My erection started when I was told to remove my clothes and lasted until I was dressed and out of the little room. Nothing was ever said about it, and the full inspection of retracting the foreskin was done and my testicles were palpitated even though I was as hard as I could get. These inspections went on through high school with the exception of the ninth grade where we had a home room teacher who attended these physical inspections. That was really embarrassing knowing I was going to have to go through this personal display with some one who would be teaching me for three classes and had seen my erection and foreskin being retracted and my glans moved around for her to see. As I remember she moved in for a really close look when that was done,even though she was not far away after I removed my clothes. The last three years of high school only a doctor and a nurse were present. I think it was preparing us from the first grade on to except this invasion of our personal privacy and not complain. I do know I had no shyness about showing myself to any girl who wanted to see and there were many who hinted or asked when we were playing around at one of the swimming holes we went to in the summer. By the way, our physicals were payed for by the state and only cost a dollar. If you said you couldn't pay it was free. Many kids has an extra dollar to spend because no one ever questioned you. A check of the spine and posture, followed by a visual inspection of the sexual organs for which the underware lowered to the knees. The whole procedure is done in attendance and in front of the class teacher and nurse. I think it all comes back to young males to accustom them to being examined and looked at and touched while being naked. Accepting a female teacher observing a nude examination of a young boy would be the normal thing, not to be questioned. However, I think most if not all of them would rather had the male gym teacher in attendance given the chose. They would be used to being around him when they were showering and getting dressed. Also I don't think he would have shown as much interest in the exam of the boys genitals as the female teachers reportedly did. Thanks again for your reply, as I enjoy being made aware of something I had totally forgotten, the complete authority of the grade school teacher. As other posters have said there was no questioning a teacher's authority in those days and you had to do what they told you, especially since they had the authority in those days to spank you when necessary. When the female P.E. teacher was there, she had complete run of the boys shower and dressing room. She handed out towels and hurried us up, and made sure we put our towels in the dirty towel basket. I assume the female teacher did the same thing in the girls shower and dressing room. I don't remember any big fuss being raised about her being in our dressing room. Some of us were embarrassed enough to cover our genitals when we came to her for a towel, but after a few times I felt kind of silly covering my self. She never paid any attention to us, we may as well have been getting our towels from a machine. I remember in the sixth grade a female P.E. teacher was there almost exclusively. The P.E. teachers were never from our school, so we never had to face them after they had seen us naked and getting dressed. And like the boys were told to remove all their clothes immediately,even for weigh-in and check of height or blood pressure, they were naked for a rather long time leaving time to senior girls or female teachers to watch them in the nude from feet to bottom and top face and back, genitals and balls and butt exposed. I try to imagine a boy of 13 age being naked with an erection undrer the sight of a senior girl student and a female teacher.It might have been very embarrassing ! I have read other relations where senior or junior girls volonteers were attending the exam of boys students even sometimes same age to take notes on comments from a school nurse or a school doctor.
