I had my temperature taken in the emergency room when I was 17 I was severely dehydrated from throwing up I was so nauseated I couldn’t even keep water down they immediately started an IV I have been running a fever of 103 at home I remember one of the nurses Telling me she was going to get my temperature and then I needed to roll over onto my side and I thought this was kind of weird at the time until I realized what she was about to do with three other people in the room I can say I was quiet Embarrassed but too sick to care

A rectal temperature is taken with a glass rectal thermometer whenever a person cannot responsibly manage a glass oral thermometer placed in the mouth which, like you, in this situation.

For some youngsters today, over the age of five years old (that would expect to have an oral temperature taken with a glass oral thermometer) with certain shortcomings such disorders as ADD, ADHD, etc., that places them at risk of having a mishap with a glass oral thermometer placed in the mouth, having a rectal temperature with a glass rectal thermometer insures an absolutely successful conclusion. That is, nothing is required of the youngster but to remain passive while the glass rectal thermometer is mounted in the youngster rear end.
