Shelly,
Seems like the storms have made life difficult for you. I'm guessing that you must live somewhere in the South or Eastern US. Hope things will dry up and get better for you. Glad to hear that you have been able to keep up with your plan for your son with all you have to deal with.
I do have a couple of questions for you, if you don't mind:
What caused you to decide your son needed a weekly enema program? From what you have written, is your husband aware of your program and does he support it?
I do have some more suggestions for you to consider:
When you set up your bathroom for your son' enema, if possible hang the bag where he can't see it while the enema flows into him.
If your son protests when you take him to the bathroom, ask him if he needs a spanking. Then recite mantra: "This needs to be done, and it has to be done now." Recite this often and make him recite it after you. This needs to get boring for him to make it effective in getting him to realize that the weekly enemas are going to be a routine part of his life.
You said that you were only able to insert the douche nozzle about halfway into your son's rectum before encountering resistance. Good thing you did not force it in farther. Assuming that your douche nozzle is similar to the white plastic ones that come with most inexpensive enema bags, I suggest you slightly modify it to help with this. First, place the nozzle in a pan of boiling water for about a minute. This should soften the plastic. Then pour off the water and quickly grasp the nozzle with a dry dish towel and gently make about an inch long 30 degree bend in it about an inch and a half from the end where holes are. While maintaining the bend place the nozzle under cold running water until the plastic hardens.
When you are ready, thoroughly lubricate the nozzle and your son's anus and gently push the nozzle into his rectum until you feel resistance. Now gently and patiently rotate the nozzle while moving it out and in about an inch until you find a path around any stool and into his sigmoid colon. Continue to gently push the nozzle in and if you again experience resistance repeat while gently working it in. If necessary, open the clamp to let the water begin flowing while you continue. Above all else, DON'T FORCE THE NOZZLE IN. Hopefully you will be able to get the nozzle all the way in without causing pain so that most of the enema will flow into his sigmoid colon where stool frequently gets trapped and less into his rectum which will make it easier for him to retain the enema for a while.
Hope this helps.
