So I know I'm repeating myself but for those who just joined here--- When I started school I didn't like the bathrooms at school because the other girls could see me on the toilet. Us parents don't model toileting. When we are on the toilet we lock the door and when our small children are whining at the door wanting attention we tell them to leave us alone for a while. They know we are on the toilet so why the big deal? Why can't they come in? That teaches us children that we aren't supposed to "share" pooping or peeing on the toilet. I started holding when I started school and got terribly backed up, lost weight, was not eating properly. I remember at least three trips to the clinic. Digital rectal exams. Doctor lecture about holding in my poop. I think the first trip mom was told to put me on the toilet when I got home every day for what seemed like an hour. That didn't work. Back to the Dr. Another finger up my butt, mom and nurse standing there watching. Another lecture about holding in my poop. And then the cure! Mom was told to get mag. citrate and put me in pullups and dose me twice a day. I missed so much school at one point they told mom if I missed another day I would have to do the year over next year. I finally decided being seen on the toilet at school by any girl that walked in was not nearly as bad as wearing diapers again and having almost constant cramping and discomfort in my belly telling me the mag. citrate was going to make me poop like it or not. My first grader and my younger boy both get constipated and thankfully our Dr. is bottoms up treatment for constipation and has always ordered suppositories to solve the problem. Preventing my little guy from doing what I did and give him a large enema every Sun. eve. He hates me that eve. but is a mommy's boy the rest of the week and I'm getting a good poop out of him every Wed. eve. and every Fri. eve and usually again just before his enema on Sun. He doesn't realize the torture I am saving him from if he were to be one of the thousands and thousands of kids that start holding in their poop when they start school. Oh and I didn't mention the humiliation of being in the principle's office before I got good at holding, having destroyed my underwear and them calling mom to come bring me clean panties. Not my boy! Enema clean out Sunday eve.
