Subject: Heaven or Hell Author: Tim [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] Date Posted: 05:01:48 10/22/11 Sat Beloved, There are two eternal destinies of man; the Bible tells us that Heaven and Hell are very real places that our spirit man will go to after our physical body perishes. The time to decide which way we are going is while we still have breath. Have you made the decision which way you're going? Like any decision, it starts with a thought and continues with an answer, a simple yes or no, but the decision requires action and follow through to complete. One can decide to go to the movies, but if you don't start the journey in time, you will miss the show. It is the same with our spiritual lives. If we have answered this first question, yes, we want to go to Heaven when we die, then we must start the journey before the final curtain (death) comes. The good news is that if you are reading and comprehending what I am saying then time has not yet run out for you to make the most important decision of your life! In Deuteronomy Chapter 30 this choice is clearly spelled out, starting in verse 15, it says, "See, I have set before you THIS DAY LIFE and good, and DEATH and evil and command you THIS DAY to love the LORD your God, to walk in his ways and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgements, THAT YOU MAY LIVE and multiply: and the LORD your God SHALL BLESS YOU IN THE LAND THAT YOU GO IN TO POSSSESS. (vs 15, 16) Notice the emphasis on THIS DAY! This good land is describing ETERNAL LIFE with the LORD of both heaven and earth! Who is this LORD of heaven and earth? He is the promised Messiah, the lamb of God, Jesus of Nazareth, who came to take away the sin of the world (John 1:29). When we make the decision to let Jesus be the Lord of our life, we enter into the most important relationship that we will ever have on this side of heaven. Why is it so important? Because it is through this relationship that we prepare ourselves for our eternal destination with him! As believers, Salvation is our most precious possession. It is like our passport to heaven! We must gaurd it and keep it current! Just like in the natural, if we are taking a trip out of the country, we must have it ready on a moments notice. In the spiritual it is no different. We must be ready when Jesus comes; we can't wait till we die. We have to be ready for him on this side of heaven; while we are still here on the earth! This new life in CHRIST can start today! By turning your back on the alternative (rejecting him) and embracing the One who died to set you free, you can begin a journey that goes on forever and ever! I can tell you from experience, it is never dull, it is never boring! It is the most exhilirating adventure that you can imagine! You might say, but it is just too good to be true, or it is just too easy, but I'm here to tell you that this IS the TRUTH that has been passed down from believer to believer down through the ages! It is tried and true and countless lives have been changed and empowered through Christ's renewing power! Your spirit knows it to be true, but the world, your flesh and the devil are constantly trying to pursuade you differently! It is the simplicity of this gospel (good news) and receiving it once and for all that makes it so powerful and life changing! It is indeed the Truth that Jesus himself told his disciples would SET THEM FREE! (John 8:32) the apostle Paul said it this way in his letter to the Galatians 2:20 "I am crucified with Christ nevertheless, I live, yet not I, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave his life for me. " You can put off your decision and doubt this truth if you want, but I appeal to you to please read the warning that the writer of the book of Deuteronomy, Moses, the one known by the Jews as the deliverer, goes on to tell us in this same chapter, starting in verse 17. "But, if your heart turns away, so you will not hear and shall be drawn away to worship and serve other gods, I denounce you THIS DAY that you shall surely perish, and that you shall not prolong your days upon the land, whether you pass over Jordan to possess it. I call heaven and earth to record THIS DAY against you that I have set before you LIFE and death, BLESSING and cursing: therefore CHOOSE LIFE that both you and your descendents may live." Jesus said, I am the way, the truth and the LIFE and no one comes to the Father but through me. (John 14:6) Don't harden your heart! I appeal to you! Friends, neighbors, loved ones, Consider the lillies of the field, they toil not, they spin not, but Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these! You are like a flower in a field. God cares for you. He knows all about you, He loves you, He clothed you and He has a place for you in his Kingdom. His Kingdom, the family of God, is a big, big family and there are many, many people in this family who can help you get what you need once you get started on this journey to heaven. But it starts with a decision. If you have made this decision Today then there is a record in heaven of what that decision is and God himself will help you, as he did me, many years ago when I too was confronted with the decision of what to do with Jesus. Like any relationship, it starts when we decide to enter into it and will continue to grow as we spend time with the person. Jesus Christ is the person and once you've made your decision to follow him, you can get to know him through fellowship with his Holy written word. You can start by reading the book of John, but anywhere from Genesis to Revelation is good. Get around other faith filled believers who know the word and can help direct you from here. I have posted it here for those who are seeking a closer walk with the One who created the Universe! For true, born again, spirit filled, children of God, We should have enough warning of the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ from Scripture itself to keep us on our toes, but reviewing this text and the scripture references that go with it can be a good refresher course for some who may have put the call to evangelize the lost, from Mark 16:15, on the back burner. I am not looking for controversy from other believers by posting this. The emphasis for some who read/watch this and don't believe will be on the personalities mentioned and/or the vivid imagery that is put forth, but I was impressed to pass it along in the event that it may warn some that come this way, who may not heed the words that I have already shared above. The following provides an underline and exclamation point to my brief text! For those who may have once believed, but have grown cold, or even luke warm, it is time to crank up the heat! a modern day prophet, named dylan, said it best in song: No reason to get excited, the THIEF he kindly spoke, for there are many here amoung us who feel that life is but a joke, BUT, you and I we've been through that and this is NOT our fate, so let us NOT speak falsely now, FOR THE HOUR IS GETTING LATE! The first run was made with a relatively low budget but because of the wide appeal and growing market for apocolyptic movies, the next generation should be a big draw at the box office. Like the Passion of the Christ that was produced by Mel Gibson, it is bringing forth a timeless message in a modern way that will give skeptics some good food for thought. The problem is that showing people the Truth on the silver screen only makes it glitter and I believe the old adage, "all that glitters..." can even lead to a dulling of the collective senses because "it" (Truth) viewed through the eyes of the masses is then compared to the glitter of satan's lies (kind of like how the pharoah's magicians in Egypt mimicked the power weilded by Moses' rod during the great plagues). The people who were already leaning in the right direction were convinced, but the heart of the Pharoah was hardened. The actual proof that confirms the Truth that sets the captives free comes not by its depiction in another more convincing form, but through a simple child like belief and acceptance of what has already been written.
