GeoCities Neglects Customer Needs: Why I Can't Update My Site

Don't try sending your response to this message by email because I cannot access my website email address. Yes that's right, Geocities (owned by Yahoo) has decided to be annoying, and I am unable to blog, update, email, or check my calendar for the next few days or weeks(I'm predicting).

In the interests of security, I changed my password and tried to log back in unsuccessfully. I attempted to request a new password, only to find the birth date I entered on registration is incorrect.

I've sent three e-mails to geocities, each time getting an automated or pre-scripted response. I have taken action to seek other means of remedying the problem.

Unfortunately, Yahoo! provides no phone based help service and no direct e-mail address to remedy the problems.

I have been able to contact a human being in email form. I filled out a form on Yahoo! Help only with an obviously automated response (your birth date is incorrect, passwords are case sensitive).

I replied to that email I and again received an automated response asking me to "select a new Yahoo! id." The response made sure to show their remorse for the losing of my account in four words -- sorry for the inconvenience.

The problem with that is obvious, however. In order to transfer the files on my site or end the billing of my credit card, I must first log into my old account. Obviously, doing that is impossible without knowing my password.

Whenever geocities starts looking after the interests of their paying customers (like me) I will be able to blog and update my site again. Until then, I will be very angry at both Yahoo! and GeoCities and am seriously considering changing hosting services.
