The original comment only meant that Lucus would have screwed with the source material even more than Jackson did. I wasn't comparing the fact that someone else wrote Jackson's source material and Lucus wrote his own source material. That was the only comparison I was making: The screwing with the source material. I certainly wasn't making any other comparison.

Both screwed with the source material, but I think Lucas would have done much more and gone much further, and would have had far less realistic sets. I think if Lucas had been at the helm, all of Hobbiton would have been CG, and would many, many of the other sets Jackson used.

Personally, I think Episodes 1 and 2 would have been much better if he would have let some of the Star Wars fans out there help him with the scripts and ideas... You are right, Peter Jackson had legions of LOTR fans out there to help him. Well, so does the original Star Wars trilogy. Lucas made a mistake by not utilizing that resource as well as Jackson did.
