Subject: Clark Ashton Smith

I am just writing to let people know Arkham House is republishing their major collection of Clark Ashton Smith Tales in February. I have read a couple of his stories in "The Book of Eibon" and from them -- I think he could end up being superior even to Lovecraft. There was something to his tales I really liked -- however, I also feel that perhaps he is more predictable and if one reads more this mystique might not be as high as Lovecraft's in the end.

While I am waiting, I did get "In Lovecraft's Shadow: the Complete Mythos Tales of August Derleth" and enjoying it. I do see how Derleth changed the "focus" and how this affected the "mythos" stories of Lin Carter (which I also have), but nonetheless Derleth I find to be quite good.. in his own way.
