Subject: Drum Building Site, good idea. Now, first topic, Strainers

I welcome the idea of builders forum. Here's hoping it all works out.

I would like to start a discussion on strainers. As you know there are many different strainers available. Some good, some not so good, some expensive, some cheap. It can rather expensive for us smaller builders to experiment with strainers and we also do not want to experiment with our customers.

I know the Nickel Drumworks unit is nice but it is expensive. I tend to like the die cast models and am seeking comments on which strainers you feel are good and why. Maybe what experience you have with fit, quality, availability and function.

Personally, I am looking to modify a strainer for use with a prototype parallel action snare I am developing. Once I work up my prototypes I may need to actually develop my own strainer. Other peoples experiences with strainers from a professional and business standpoint would be appreciated.
