Author: Zane||Lome
Subject: ...Unaware...

Zane stood on a small ledge, a small fleck of color among the frozen peaks. A snow-laden breeze tousles his light blonde hair, whipping his thick cloak around his lanky body. The teen completely ignored the icy flakes stinging his upturned face as his cerulean eyes scanned the skies for his bondmate, searching for the telltale crimson streak across the steely sky.
“Lome?” The boy of seventeen cupped his hands around his mouth, calling to the unresponsive heavens. Sighing, Zane tried a mental query, -Lome?- Both calls went unanswered, and the boy cocked an eyebrow. It wasn’t often the red totally ignored his friend’s calls, not even showing a blood red wingtip. A small worry line creased the boy’s forehead, but then Zane shrugged it off with his accustomed grin. It won’t do to fuss over Lome like a broody white, He reprimanded himself, after all, he is a big dragon now, and he can take care of himself. The teenager laughed at his silliness, and leaned back against a protruding rock. It wouldn’t hurt him to try patience for once now, would it?

The object of Zane’s search soared high above the rocky peaks, oblivious to Zane’s calls as he simply enjoyed flight. The wind tugged at his wings, and flurries of snow whisked past, but the dragon was warm as ever beneath his shaggy crimson pelt. Lome sighed with contentment, closing his eyes in bliss for a moment as he performed a careless barrel roll. When his warm golden eyes slowly slid open once more, a cloud had enveloped him. The mammoth dragon wasn’t particularly concerned, for he was high enough to avoid any danger, and the last time he had checked, he had more than ample airspace between him and the jagged peaks.

Lome soared on in idyllic disregard, unaware that his playful antic had taken him much closer to the dark mountains, and each of his lazy wingbeats was taking him closer to a painful demise. The wind filled the huge red’s colossal wings, speeding him closer to the waiting boulders. A deep rumble of contentment filled Lome’s throat as he drew too closer to the serrated peaks, still unaware of his predicament, growing ever dealier by the moment.
