Eavan made her way downward, one miniscule step at a time, grabbing ledges and footholds at a painstakingly slow rate.

||Perhaps I shouldn't have climbed so high...||

Hindsight was always perfect.

Still she continued her snail-like pace, even when the last crimson rays of the sun faded from the violet skies.

_____________

Snow began falling just after dark, soft, white and silent...
It was beautiful, it was magnificent, and it was oh so terible.

No sooner had she grown accustomed to the snow, then a sharp wind began to whip about her.
It hurtled snow and sand onto her face, stinging her skin and making her eyes water.

||I'm so stupid! Stupid, stupid, stupid!||

When her frostbitten fingers refused to cooprate, Eavan considered her options.

She could continue to climb down, or she could try to seek shelter from the driving wind...
As nice as shelter sounded, however, she had no food, and chances of a suitable ledge or cave were very slim indeed.

||Looks like I'm going down.||

She nodded to herself, gathered her bearings, and took the next step down...
Only to find that it wasn't there...
