Subject: Hap, so sorry. It is a hard decision to make. We made that decision about 4 years ago. Had to put down the old mare, Maggie, that my sister & I had ridden in HS & college. Then Rylen rode her after his pony died of colic. She really took good care of Rylen. He has a mare now that looks and acts A LOT like her. I would like to know if their related, but this new old mare has no papers.

  • You did right Hap. Hope I can put my old Cricket down when the time is right. Can't keep her with the geldings any more. She is still a pretty horse and the grand kids still ride her but she has to have a lot of bute. Guess I should give it to her every day. A good faithfuly old horse is hard to turn loose of. • Sorry to hear about everything you have went through Hap. I know its hard to put down an old horse, but at least he lived a long time. I have one 16 now, had one live to be 26. But the one I took the hardest was the one I liked the most in my career that dropped dead while I was on his back at the age of 13. That was the toughest one to take.
