Suddenly, Shadow heard someone moving behind her. She cursed herself for being so absorbed in her reading that she wasn't listening to what was going on. Just then, she was aware of a knife at her throat.
"Give me your money or taste this blade," said a menacing voice behind her. She remained calm, but her eyes glittered dangerously.
"And what if I don't?" She suddenly whirled, and in a swift move, punched him in the stomach and rammed him into the wall. She drew her sword, ready to attack again, but her asailant was unconscious.
"As I thought," She mumbled, "Just a stupid mortal theif." She walked over to where he was and kicked him over. He was particularly ugly and ragged looking. She snorted in disgust, but left him as he was.
"Not even worth killing." She shook her head. "Fool, take that as a lesson, you'd better think twice before attacking someone."
She walked back out into the street and looked around. All seemed quiet enough. She looked down and sighed, realizing she had left her black cloak back at the bar. She rolled her eyes and headed to retreive it.
