She couldn't find her voice for a moment, as she looked up at the man. But suddenly the words came out in a tumble. "My name is Filipina Hoofspirit. I'm looking for a position in your army, or one you can recommend." Her voice was firm and confident now, unwavering. She was speaking to him as she did to people at the horse races she used to compete in. Show fear and they strike you down.

Her roan gelding stood in the trees, watching his new mistress, his tail swishing, his ears moving this way and that to listen to the sounds about him. Filipina had draped a green blanket over his back to protect him from the chill evening air, and he was rather content.
