Assalamualaikum Sister Laila
The other day, I went to listen to a speech that was made by a shaykh on the topic of Riba.
He used an example of the action that Bilal did. One day, Bilal brought a bucket of fresh dates to Prophet muhammad(PBUH)and said that he exchanged it with two buckets of not very fresh dates. On hearing it, Prophet muhammad (PBUH) said to Bilal "This is Riba"
On the similar occasion, Prophet (PBUH) allowed his followers to exchange a camel with 4 baby camels.
The shaykh explained the reason of this difference is that dates were used as money at that time.
I thought of the reason is focused on the possibility of the benefit that you get from the object you exchanged. But then, are 4 baby camels equal to an adult camel ????

As Saalamu Alaikoum,

I can not explain what other people say and do. I teach the people of THIS website to beware of people who speak without knowledge of this religion and I warn my users about going to the other chat rooms owned by the kaafir on the internet, listening to so called Scholars speak about this religion without evidence.

I also warn my users to not be intimadated by a person with a title. Just because a person calls himself a shaykh or scholar does not nessasarily mean he or she is one.

Ask the person you heard this from to explain what he said. I am not in the business of explaining what comes from the mouths of others.

A true scholar would present to you his evidence as he delivers his lecture.. as we do here at this website.
