Asalama Aleikum

Below is a Ahadith that i came accross but i have not been able to find the context in which this was said.
Could you please further expand on the meaning and context of this Ahadith.

"The one who separates his hand from obedience (ta'ah) will have no excuse (hujjah) before Allah on the Day of Judgement and he who dies without a baya'h on his neck dies the death of jahileeyah." (Muslim)

This hadeeth applys only if there is a Khalifa for muslims,in this case every muslum should obey him and give him baya'h ( covenant) ,and if any one did not do it ,he or she will die in state of Jahilyyah.
This does not mean to go and give baya'h to a leader of a muslim group or sect,this only for al baya'h al kubra,and it is only for the khaipha or the imam of the muslims.Many groups and sects they use this hadeeth to make people give them baya'h,which is not right,and in the saheeh hadeeth when one of the sahabah asked the prophet (S A W ) about if there is no imam or jamaa,ah for muslim what should I do, and the prophet (S A W ) answered him to hold fast his religion tell he dies,and this is our setuation now,just follow al Quran and Assunnah ,and ask Allah to save us from all these traials.You can read more about that in the book of saheeh al bukhari, in (BAB AL FETAN) or section of traials.
