In reply to: fatima 's message, "salat" on 03:47:56 07/31/02 Wed

As Salaamu Alaikum,

Praise be to Allah.

Please kindly defined what salatus "subh" Please write it in english as well as phonetics if you know so. As for how a woman should prostrate, you should know that there is no difference between the man and woman's way of praying.

There is no hadith that says a woman should pray diferent from a man. This comes from a Mathab or school of thought.

We urge you to read the book written by Shaykh Albani which is posted on our website, concerning the description of the prayer of the prophet. We also encourage you to join the website and participate in the How to Perform Salat class. Be sure to check the schedule for the times.

Make sure that under no circumstances do your elbows touch the ground because the prophet(saw) has forbidden us from imitating the sitting of a dog when praying. [Bukhari and Muslim]

In regards to raising the hands before and after rukoo, the hands should be raised in the beginning of salat, before going to rukoo, rising up from rukoo and after the first tashahud. All this is explained in detail in Shaykh Albanis book...

AND ALLAH KNOWS BEST

Shaykh Muhammad Adly
