Assalamu Alaikum Sister Laila,

Baarakallaho feeky for all your efforts. Ameen.

A sister was asking me whether kids are allowed out after Maghrib, and she was saying that she doesn't believe that "spirits" are out then. I told her that I think I've heard a hadith that says to refrain from letting children out, and Allah knows best.

Is that the case? If, so, can you please present the hadith so that I may give it to her.

As Saalamu Alaikoum,

Narrated Jabir ibn AbdullahAllah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said:

"Do not let your animals and children go out when the sun sets until the first and the darkest part of the night is over, for the Satan is let loose with the sinking of the sun until the darkest part of the night is over." [Muslim 944]
