In reply to: Frosty 's message, "release -Peter" on 13:27:49 06/16/00 Fri

Prior to being introduced to NG a few months ago, I had been playing CG (and not very well) for a couple of years.
I had lessons from two different pros and neither one explained the release to me (I know how to pick 'em).

The NG LOBG book states something like:

...after impact, your arms extend down the target line, the tension releases and your arms and hips rotate...

It's there, I guess, but it didn't register.
Looking back at the LOBG pictures, I can see that Todd and Ken are releasing the club properly. It's there, but it didn't register.

Is there a school of thought that says "the release will just happen if you do everything else right."?
This is an honest question and not intended to be taken as a slam.

PS. I mentioned it before... the IMA tape helped me too.
