They say that money makes the world go 'round. There are very many businesses nearby, and they MUST HAVE people spending money there. That's equivalent to saying that people MUST HAVE FOOD.
..... But the secret of happiness is to always spend less than one's income. Many people have not yet learned the proper use of money, and that often NOT spending money (on luxuries?) is the best policy under the circumstances.
