Cindy R. took a break from her computer search and took a deep drag on her Marlboro 100. It had been a good and a bad day for Cindy. The smoke was thickening and the controversy was clearing.
Hubby Ron was in the bedroom reading Jim Bouton's Book "Ball Four," a story about major league baseball in the 50s and 60s, and watching the History Channel. Most of the events had take place before he was born, but they were humourous.
As Ron looked Cindy's direction, he wondered if Cindy was more upset than she let on about the events that transpired. As Cindy snuffed out her Marlboro 100 and lit a Newport, she was thinking about her next move. She reminded herself that she could now focus on quality writing instead of quantity. And so she planned her next step. How about a farce story, she thought. Ah, yes, Cindy pondered. "We could have story about a snipe hunt and have several of them attend. "The Magnificent Seven Goes Snipe Hunting" would be the title.
Skip that. Go back to the beginning and post it. Before the beginning, there was the prelude. The prelude can wait. The beginning was take a pack from her teen daughter.
I am Cindy, Past Tempted. My husband is Ron, who had posted as Oldie. He had the idea of getting the Late Bloomers Smokers board going. We are appreciative that the board was started. Circumstances finally got me going. Smoking that is. I was 40 at the time.
Just a little over a year ago, I took cigarettes from my middle daughter who was barely 16 at the time. I then visited smoking boards and smoking chat. We had our computer operating at home barely two month but I discovered tracks to these smoking boards.
I read the stuff and got on Smoke Break and chatted. Ron worked a lot that Saturday and I spent a lot of time chatting. Armed with the pack of six remaining Marlboro Lights, I decided to try smoking. Of all places, I had my first one in front of Ron at a restaurant before Sunday breakfast.
I had my second on after breakfast. Puffs were modest and the smoke went no further than my mouth. Rumors were spreading a lot faster. Ron acted rather calm about things but did take me out on an errand later in the day, and seemed to hint that he wanted me to smoke. There, I was able to dispose of the third and fourth cigarette in the pack. I could feel the smoking slipping into my tender windpipe. There were no plans for the future but I kept the remaining two cigarettes.
I had always suspected Ron had an appreciation for women smoking cigarettes. I found that many called it a fetish. We knew each other forever, going to the same high school. He dated some girls I would call wild who also smoked. He dated some mature girls who I characterize as mature who had chosen to smoke. He also dated some nice girls like me. Shortly after graduating from high school he married me. They was some urgency in have the wedding when we did. We went together for about six months.
Back to the recent past. Monday we went to a local restaurant frequented many by people passing through on the major highway in town. Most call them tourist. Dinner alone on a weeknight is a rarity. I asked Ron what he thought of me smoking. He said it was great and suggested I do it again next weekend. I did it next weekend but what happened inbetween forged my future as a smoker.
More later.
