Ball, Jeffers and now Gravesen didn't WANT to play for the team so good riddance. 8-10m for Jeffers looks like good money considering he spends more time on the treatment table than on the pitch. As for Dunne - did you really think he was a good player? Jevons has some promise but if was going to be a star then surely a Premiership team would have bought him. McCann has had all his best games for Sunderland not for EFC. As for first division football next season I think it's just a little soon to be playing the death march. Walters biggest failing is in his tactical knowledge of the game. Playing Blomqvist on the right just doesn't make sense to me. The thing we really need is a fit mobile centre forward ( with pace )who can feed of the quality crosses that Ginola and Blomqvist can supply and who can be purchased for a half eaten bag of toffees....

Fair play to you both, lads. Some good points well made.

What really gets me down, putting Walter's bizarre tactics and teams selections to one side for a minute, is that in 30 years of going to the match I can not recollect so many players expressing their desire to leave Goodison. Coincidence? Not likely.

We have a reserve team who won their Premier league title last year, mainly by using the kids given the level of injuries we had to 'senior' players, and how many of those have been given their chance? Admittedly Hibbert has played a few games lately, Clarke a couple and Chadwick has had the odd 20 minutes.

We just seem to be playing for today and not building for the future, perhaps partly down to fincancial constraints but surely not totally down to it.

Anyway, I think I have whinged enough and feel a bit better now. I'm off for a lie down.
