For some teams, there seems to be a large difference between their RPI from collegerpi.com and froom cbssportsline.com. For example, prior to their loss in the tourney final Valpo had an RPI of 88 and a SOS 164 from collegerpi.com. After their loss, cbssportsline.com has Valpo with a 104 RPI and 214 SOS. Now I know that Valpo's conference games in the Mid-Con are weak, but their non-conference schedule included Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Syracuse, Notre Dame, Cincinnati, Central Mich, Purdue, Missouri, Charlotte, and N. Ill. and I can't believe that gives them a overall SOS of 214!! Because I have used collegerpi.com in the past, I will continue to use their numbers. The next RPI update from collegerpi.com is Selection Sunday afternoon.

Today's magic number is up to 106.

65 (NCAA teams)
+ 40 (ASSUMING NIT teams)
_____
105
+ 7 (ineligble teams with an RPI better than 112)
_____(4 teams may become ineligble - Vandy seems certain)
112
- 6 (NCAA auto bid teams having RPI worse than 112)
_____
106
+ ? ("skipped" teams having an RPI better than 112)
_____
???

It would help to have:
Holy Cross win the Patroit
Ole Miss to lose today
Temple to lose today
Fla. St. to lose today
Stephen F. Austin to beat Sam Houston today
Utah St. or UC-Irvine to win the Big West
Boston to win the American East tomorrow

We want no MAJOR upsets in ACC, Atlantic 10, Big 10,
Big 12, Conf USA, MAC, Pac 10, SEC, and
WAC. We want a team with an RPI of 112 or better to
win each of these conference tournaments, which is
possible and, in most cases, probable.

The Big East will have a winner better than 112.
The Mountain West will have a winner better than 112 also.

In the MAC, we want Kent or CMU (probably Kent for NIT match-up reasons).
In the WAC, we want Hawaii, Tulsa, or Nevada
In the A-10, we want Dayton, St. Joe's, or Xavier
In C-USA, we want St. Louis, Louisville, or Memphis
